Chief Executive

Jon joined the organisation in May 2009 following the retirement of long serving CEO Nigel Voules.The main priority at the time was to modernise the organisation, lead it through a challenging period of austerity and develop new partnerships with key local, regional and national stakeholders. During this period the core staff team has grown from three to ten and the turnover has increased from £150,000 to £350.000.

Gemma Lockyer Turnbull
Head of Operations

Appointed in August 2012 initially to implement the Ambition Quality Mark Framework across our network. Following a recent restructure Gemma was appointed to the post of Head of Operations with a high level of responsibility for internal systems, policies and procedures and lead responsibility for the development of our direct delivery programmes with young people.

Louise Laws
Membership and Development Manager

Louise is our longest serving employee and joined the organisation in August 2007 initially as club support officer funded by The Northern Rock Foundation. Now Membership and Development Manager, Louise has secured some excellent partnership opportunities that have added real value to our offer to members. Louise has led successfully on our rebrand and improved communications and social media.

Sara Newson
Youth Work Manager

Sara is a recent and welcome addition to our senior staff team and was appointed to the post of Youth Work Manager in early August as part of restructure. Sara joins NE Youth with a wealth of experience of managing and delivering a range of programmes that have a made a real positive difference with young people. Sara is very much known to NE Youth having worked at one of our affiliated members (Stepney Banks Stables) for a number of years previously. Sara will lead on the development of our direct youth work programmes including Rubgy Works and Lions Quest.

Phil Nicholson
Finance Manager

Working one-day per week Phil has made a huge difference to the way we manage, understand and present our finances. Phil provides accurate and up to date information that ensures that the CEO and Board of Directors can make informed strategic decisions around financial planning.

Wendy Taylor-Dodd Operations Support Officer

Wendy is a highly efficient administrator and ensures the smooth running of the office environment. Wendy leads on the effective administration of our corporate fundraising programme that provides valuable ‘unrestricted’ core cost funding for our work.

Tina Townson
Operations Support Officer

Working two-days per week, Tina provides excellent back up for Phil in the finance section and leads on the effective administration of a number of key operational functions. Over the recent 4 year period Tina has also been our lead contact for the England CYP Rose Bowl Team.

Erin Le Gallez
Development Worker

Erin is our most recent addition to the team and was appointed to the post of Development Worker in late March 2017 as part of our recent restructure. Erin joins NE Youth with a fresh outlook and has previous experience of working in the Community and Voluntary Sector and leading on development projects and volunteer programmes, from her previous role at Northumberland CVA. Erin also used to work with one of our affiliated members (Stepney Banks Stables) for a number of years previously. Erin will work alongside Louise and Ray on the Membership and Development Team to provide development opportunities for members.

Lindsay Mauldings
Youth Development Worker

Lindsay is currently leading on our Dallaglio (Rugby Works) programme currently being delivered in 5 Pupil Referral Units. Lindsay’s energy and enthusiasm is infectious and has a clear passion for her work with young people.

Youth Development Worker

Working in tandem with Lindsay Peter joined NCYP in 2010 as a youth work apprentice. It has been great to see Peter ‘grow’ in to an excellent young professional and develop some really positive work with young people.

Philippa Compson
Youth Development Worker

Based in Shilbottle, Philippa’s work focuses on children aged 5 to 12 however she also alternates supporting the toddlers and teenagers groups that operate from Shilbottle Community Hall. Philippa has degree in Childhood Studies as well as a wealth of experience working with young people at projects including Choysez and Stepney Bank Stables. She has a wealth of weird, wonderful and fun activities to keep  children engaged and learning through play.

Social Media Apprentice

Sponsored by the St Nicholas Educational Trust, Ray took on this role in January 2016. Ray has added new skills to the organisation and following our rebrand will lead on the implementation of our social media strategy and plan.
