Dallaglio Foundation – Rugby Works
Dallaglio Rugbyworks aims to help young people achieve sustained education, employment or training. Rugby is used as a tool to engage young people who attend PRU schools. We are currently working with 42 young people aged between 14-16 who have been excluded from mainstream education across 4 different schools, based in Gateshead, Newcastle and North Tyneside.
Sessions include classroom based work focused on developing employability skills as well as looking at key issues for young people such as relationships and body image. The young people then head out for a game of rugby, learning to communicate, work as a team and challenge themselves. Tournaments and work experiences days are built in to the programme.
“I think the Rugbyworks programme is fantastic as it gives opportunities for some of our students who may be less confident or reluctant to participate in other activities and to test themselves and come out of their comfort zones. The chance to visit Bidvest recently was a thoroughly enjoyable one and I feel a lot of our students will benefit massively from being able to access these employment opportunities.”
“We are always impressed with the innovative approach NE Youth use to work with our young people on RugbyWorks in difficult settings. They are getting great traction with the young people and schools in turning these young lives around. We are excited about working with them to expand the programme further in the North East”

Lions Quest – Skills for Adolescence
This programme is designed for children and young people aged 8-14. It aims to equip them with the skills and strategies needed to successfully navigate through the challenges of adolescence and into adulthood. Sessions are fun and interactive with a variety of practical and discussion-based activities.
“You’re not forced to talk and you can be yourself. It isn’t like a lesson. You get to talk about how you feel and no one judges you”
“The teachers are kind and caring”
