World Photo Day
19th August 2019
Thank you to everyone who entered our competition celebrating World Photo Day. NE Youth members were invited to send us photographs based on the theme of ‘positivity’. The winners were the Helping Hands group from Phoenix Detached Youth Project, who sent us a picture of rocks hey had painted for World Mental Health Day in October. They chose positive images and quotes to paint on the rocks , which will be hidden around North Tyneside to hopefully spread ‘positivity’. Well done!!

We had a brilliant day at our Clarty Bairns Event on Sunday, with over 100 participants representing seven NE Youth member organisations. Thank you to everyone who came along and took part, and to Nev and the team at Challenge Northumberland.
All photos from the day are in our gallery (click HERE) and facebook page. Please tag yourself and your friends in the photos and leave a comment about what you loved the most about the day, and don’t forget to tag @NE Youth in any of your photos so we can see them.

Thanks to our sponsors The Protector Group, we were able to offer our members’ young people another year’s Water Sports Day at Cullercoats Bike and Kayak. Everyone had a really great day, which was made even better with the sun shining!!
The activity took place in the beautiful sheltered cove at Cullercoats Bay, where the young people had lots of fun and enjoyed trying Sea Kayaking, individual and group stand up paddleboarding and boogie boarding, which all took great balance and determination. The group also developed a range of other skills such as teamwork, communication, cooperation, self-motivation and increased in confidence throughout the day. All the hard work was well rewarded with a much needed seaside fish and chip lunch!
Huge thanks again to our funder The Protector Group, the instructors from Cullercoats Bike and Kayak and of course the young people and members. Let’s make next year even more fun – if that’s possible!

We have been so inspired by the entries we received for our Recycling Challenge to celebrate World Environmental Day. We had a really tough time deciding on the winner as we believe that every entry deserves recognition, but we finally decided that the winners were Eco-Warriors LILY AVERY and JESSICA BROWNLESS, both aged 10 from Brandon and Carrside Youth and Community Project.
The girls are both passionate about climate change and have achieved so much in only a few months. From presenting ideas to their school about ways to make it more environmentally friendly to contacting the Newcastle Eagles to suggest the installation of recycling bins for the plastic bottles thrown away at their matches, these girls are always looking for an opportunity to make a difference.
A huge well done to the girls and to everyone who entered the competition!! The winners will each receive a goody bag full of environmentally friendly goodies.
