The sun was shining, laughter filled the air and the Throckley community gathered once again for a day of fun and fundraising at the Throckley Sports Pavilion on Thursday 24th August 2023.

Following the resounding success of last year’s social action event that raised funds for a vital defibrillator, NE Youth’s passionate Throckley Youth Group decided to host another spectacular community fundraiser. And what a day it turned out to be!

With a total of 138 community members, including families, children and young people, coming together, it was evident that Throckley knows how to rally for a great cause. The aim? To raise funds for an exciting community trip that promises unforgettable memories for all.

Our community event was a fusion of fun and fundraising. The young people raised funds from a blend of activities on the day, UK Youth’s Inspire 2022 programme and The Key to provide the wide range of supporting activities for families free of charge. We were able to raise an incredible £700! This would not have been possible without the immense support and enthusiasm of everyone who attended.

The event catered to everyone, from the young to the young at heart. Here are just a few highlights that made the day so special:

  • Pick and mix
  • Smoothie Bike
  • Sand Art
  • Hot Dogs
  • Wrap Making with our friends at Healthworks
  • Food parcels from Feeding Families

Events like Bringing Throckley Together 2 remind us of the incredible strength and passion of young people wanting to do something good for their community. We come together not only for fun and games but to support each other and invest in our shared future.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated tombola prizes and contributed to making this event a success. Your support will make a real difference in the lives of people in Throckley, and have given the young people who have organised this event a real confidence boost.
