Now a fixture on the Throckley calendar, Bringing Throckley Together was another resounding success!
The fourth annual Bringing Throckley Together event, sponsored by Ibstock, took place on Thursday 14thAugust.
People from the local community gathered at Throckley Sports Pavilion to enjoy a huge range of activities to raise money for our Throckley Youth Session.
We brought the family favourites back – a fun and challenging climbing wall, creative face painting, sports, arts and crafts, huge inflatables (the slide was so popular this year!), hook the duck and giant bubble making.
Thanks to Ibstock’s lead sponsorship this year, as well as additional support from Warburtons, we were able to bring even more to the event!
We introduced some amazing animals for people to meet (snake; tortoise; tarantula and a skunk to name a few!), had acrobatics lessons, spray painting tutorials with (insert organisation name), Giant Tetris and birdbox/Beebox making.
There were visits from Northumbria Police and Fire Brigade, with young people being allowed to try out the high-pressure hose that is used in real-life firefighting and getting to look inside a fire engine. The police gave mini tours of a real police car, even letting the young people try out being locked in the back like a criminal! The younger ones enjoyed meeting a different law enforcement officer: Woody from Toy Story!
The beautiful sunshine helped to bring out the Throckley community, with over 400 people in attendance during the day. In total we raised £1440 to help run our community session for the coming year!
It was an amazing effort by the young people of our Throckley session, whose dedication is always an inspiration, for their energy and commitment to get the event organised and for their volunteering on the day.
Special thanks to NE Youth’s Haley for taking charge and organising the activities and her relentless promotion in the community, and Rachael for her organisation and finding funding to host the event.
Huge thanks to our sponsors and local business Ibstock for their amazing support in creating a brilliant day, as well as Warburtons and Newcastle City Council.
We’ll be planning next year’s event in the new year – so let’s look forward to Bringing Throckley Together once more in 2026!
