Our 90th Anniversary

An exciting and momentous year for NE Youth

90 candles as NE Youth moves into a new era  

We celebrate our 90^th anniversary as an organisation working for young people in the North East, and look forward to a year of events to commemorate this special time.

Starting out in 1935 as The Northumberland Association of Boys Clubs, the organisation has changed and evolved over the course of 90 years. We now offer direct open access  youth provision in communities and targeted programmes with Young people – different to our original remit.

During that time, we have worked with over 1,000,000 young people in the region.

We would like to tell a comprehensive story about our history and legacy as we mark this momentous year and ask for your help to do so. We would love to hear from anyone who has been a part of our organisation during our history to create a picture of the impact we’ve had on the lives of young people, its lasting influence and shine a light on what things used to be like. Our Gala Dinner on the 10^th April 2025 is going to be our biggest event of the year, and we’d love you to join us – get your tickets here.

Fundraising will of course be a big part of our year as we aim to raise an extra £90,000 to help us navigate a bleak funding landscape and continue to do great work in our communities. Opportunities and services for young people have never been more in demand, yet funding has never been so hard to secure. We support over 185 member organisations as well as providing our own services, such as our youth sessions and Odysseus Mentoring Project.
