Thank you and well done to our amazing 3 Peaks Challengers, who successfully climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon all within 36 hours in April 2022.

The group battled wind, rain and snow all to raise vital funds to support NE Youth and Tyne Amateur Rowing Club. They have raised over £1,500 which will be split between the two causes.

Here’s what our Challengers had to say about it:

Frances:

Completing this three peaks challenge has been an awesome adventure and made even more satisfying knowing we have managed to raise over £750 for NE Youth. I wanted to thank everyone who has donated and sponsored us for this challenge, and special thank you for NE Youth for all of their support as well.

Jen:

I never thought id take on a challenge such as this for many reasons, and to say I learnt a lot would be an understatement. But I’m glad I was able to recognise the challenge for what is was; an opportunity to raise awareness and to help others.

Completing the three peaks challenge was a pretty special one, and the knowledge that we were able to give something back to a local charity close to our hearts was pretty awesome motivation to keep tired legs going.

Katherine:

The 3 Peaks was an incredible experience and one that I will never forget for a number of reasons. The mountains threw every bit of weather at us but knowing that we were doing it for such an incredible cause, such as NE Youth, made digging in and getting those final few kilometres done that little bit easier.

I can’t thank NE Youth enough for their support and I can’t wait to see the good work that will able to be done with the money we have raised.

Anna:

Despite not being able to partake in the actual challenge, due to covid, I was able to offer my support remotely through the Instagram page. It was great to see the group complete the challenge with flying colours beating their target time by 6hrs!

Beth:

Although it proved to be a bigger challenge than I had first anticipated, I am very proud if how everyone rose to the occasion. Definitely some beautiful sights along the way to keep us motivated!

Chrisy:

The 3 peaks was a lot harder than anticipated, with minimal prep and lack of sleep it was hard to keep one foot in front of the other especially on the last day. I was forever grateful to everyone for supporting us and my friends for dragging me up Snowdon when I thought I wasn’t going to be able to the top let alone make it back to the bottom.

NE Youth Chief Executive, Jon Niblo, praised the group saying “the 3 Peaks Challenge is no easy task and we sincerely thank everyone who took part for supporting our work. Youth services are needed more than ever following the pandemic, and our work wouldn’t be possible without the support of great people like this group who have gone above and beyond to support the development of children and young people across the North East.”
