This was the 2024 young persons’ clay pigeon shoot, which took place a week ago. We had 17 young people from our member organisations and our own youth groups attend and take part in a clay pigeon shoot in Northumberland.

The participants met at the Northumberland Arms where they all signed in, met each other and had a safety talk with the team prior to heading over. The group then all followed the delivery team to the venue and parked the cars up ready for the day.

The young people were then split into teams, and given practise turns at the three different stations that were set up. Each young person had a minimum of five shots at each target on each station. The groups rotated around each station until they had completed all three.

After the first round of shooting, the group then had sandwiches, sausage rolls and refreshments provided by the Cook and Barker Inn. After a quick break, the groups then had a designated leader who was in charge of tracking points in the second round of shooting. Each individual again had 5 shots at each station, with each target giving one point. After the three stages, we collected the scores in to tally up the total point leader on the day who would win a prize.

As we got the results, we noticed three individuals on the same score so these three had a ‘shoot off’ for the runner up. This was a great experience with the whole group supporting these three young people as they competed against each other.

After the finishing of the shoot, we all went to Cook and Barker where we had food and an awards ceremony. Every individual who took part was presented with a certificate. Trophies were also given to: the highest points total and the most improved shot.

The highest points total was awarded to George.

The most improved shot was awarded to Lenni.

Overall a fantastic day, full of laughter, smiles and new experiences for young people!

🙌 A huge thank you to everyone that made this event happen: The 12 Bores Club including Glynn Cooper and the excellent team of coaches, The Cook and Barker Inn for great food and refreshments and George Hubb from Hubbway Plant Hire for use of the land.
