On Friday 10th October, take in the stunning scenery of one of the UK’s natural wonders, the lake district, as you visit 9 of the famous Wainwrights in aid of the region’s young people. It’s a walk with experienced guides, who will help navigate the mountain paths from start to finish.
The Wainwrights are a group of 214 fells (hills and mountains) in the Lake District. They are all connected by featuring in Alfred Wainwright’s famous guidebooks: A Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells.
2025 also marks the 70th anniversary of Alfred Wainwright’s The Eastern Fells guidebook, the first in his Pictoral Guide to the Lakeland Fells eries that are so cherished by Lake District walkers.
We’ll set off on in the morning together and walk the fully-guided Fairfield Horseshoe – an 11.6-mile route starting and ending at Rydal. Some great views at the peaks are the reward for the effort and the walk ends with a leisurely walk in the grounds of Rydal Hall, past waterfalls and soaring peaks either side.
Add B&B the night before or after the walk at The Inn Collection Group’s The Swan in Grasmere to make the trip extra special and take in some of the beauty of The Lakes at your leisure.
