We’re a Disability Confident Employer!
The Disability Confident scheme aims to help employers make the most of the opportunities provided by employing disabled people. It is voluntary and has been developed by employers and disabled people’s representatives.
The scheme helps employers recruit and retain great people, and:
- draw from the widest possible pool of talent.
- secure high quality staff who are skilled, loyal and hard working.
- improve employee morale and commitment by demonstrating that all employees are treat fairly.
We strive to be inclusive and equitable in our approach to running our services for young people and members and know that in order to do this well, we need to attract and retain a diverse team of individuals across our staff team.
Achieving Level 2 of the Disability Confident scheme demonstrates that we are working hard to ensure that our recruitment processes are open and fair and that we treat our employees with respect and support them to thrive at work.
This scheme also recognises the significant commitment we make to providing meaningful opportunities for young people with disabilities to gain work experience as part of their employment journeys.
Gemma Lockyer Turnbull, Deputy Chief Executive, said:
“NE Youth strives to be an employer of choice in the region and we believe that achievement of the Disability Confident Employer accreditation is just another way we are demonstrating that we want to attract the very best talent.”
